We join her on an exciting journey of discovery. She wraps the veil around her waist and transforms into a beautiful princes; she lays the veil on the floor where she
magically converts its folds into big waves that carry her ship; she looks at the veil through a paper telescope to explore the sparkling beauty of the night sky ... . Her imagination eventually leads us to the final destination.
Author Saba Hakim tackles a controversial adult topic – the Muslim head covering – and presents it to young audiences through the apolitical eyes of a child.
The illustrations are equally inspiring bringing together the intricate artistry of Australia’s own Anna Cordingly together with the colourful imaginative work of the Iranian artist Rafat Hashemi Sisakht .
